Burnt Cow Tongue

Letter dated February 3, 2010

Yep! We got hit with a crazy snowstorm.... well, crazy snowstorm for here in Virginia. (They said the last time they got any snow was five years ago, and a big snowstorm like this... about 5-6 inches.... hasn't happened in about 20 years! Who knows- the story gets better every time:) ) We were instructed by our Mission President that we weren't allowed to leave at all for two days..... ugh.... but- it was a wonderful opportunity to study the scriptures, make lesson plans, etc... and realize how greatly we desire to get out and share the gospel! The Lord always knows how to recharge our batteries!

Funny story- we were teaching one of our less active families the other night, and at the end of the lesson and after the prayer, the mom sniffed the air, started yelling, and bolted for the kitchen. She whipped open the oven door to find a pool of black and the most foul-smelling smoke fill up the entire house and permeate everything around it with the one and only stench of ...... burnt cow tongue! Ewww!!!! She pulled them out of the oven and there were these two looooooong black cow tongues, standing up... as crisp as bacon! Priceless! We haven't been able to use our coats for a couple of days because the stench made them smell so bad that we wanted to throw up!!! Our whole car and house stinks now! He, he, he..... good times..... good fun!
